Some Simple Decorating Ideas:
- You may find a lovely set of plates that you would not eat off of, but you could hang them on the wall.
- You can make your home look homely by putting vases and pretty bowls filled with fruit or pinecones around.
- Cover ugly furniture with pretty throws or beach wraps.
- Paint old furniture.
- Buy mirrors and put them up on the walls to create the illusion of space.
- Buy cheap pictures for their frames and put your own pictures in it.
- Buy lots of mismatched cushions and put them all over to make it look cosy.
- Buy cheap crockery etc and break it in order to do mosaics on a wall, floor or even table
- Look for good sturdy furniture, even if it is dirty or tattered. Have it re upholstered at a minimal cost. Or give yourself the task.
- Look for the tools you need to complete your decorating and home DIY jobs at second hand stores. You will find them for a fraction of the cost.
- Buy plain plastic, wooden or metal boxes. Cover them with fabric, wall paper or decoupage and us them to put all your papers, photos and other things into them. You can stack them to make a room look tidier.
- Look for some side tables, even if they are damaged or ugly, you can cover them with a beautiful cloth or repaint them.
- Purchase items of interest and put them up on the wall or even in a frame. For eg: an antique camera
- Buy mismatched picture frames, put photos in them and put them all over your walls in clusters.

- Look for a table that you like. Purchase a piece of glass and put photos, pressed flowers or magazine articles you like under the glass on top of the table.
