We do not buy stolen goods!
How does Cash Converters guard against buying stolen goods?
Cash Converters has a strict Zero Tolerance policy on stolen goods. All franchisees have to abide by the policy and face being disenfranchised if they do not. There are various methods that buyers use when purchasing goods from the public in order to determine whether or not they are stolen. Should goods be found to be stolen, Cash Converters immediately calls the police and detains the person selling the goods until the police arrive to deal with it.
The methods used are as follows:
- Cash Converters abide by the Second Hand Goods Act 23 of 1955
- All goods are held for seven days before they can be sold
- Cash Converters will do everything reasonable to ensure that no stolen or suspect goods are traded in the store and if we have any doubt, we will not buy them
- Buyers are trained to look for certain things like chargers with cell phones, remotes with TV’s and Hifi’s etc
- Goods will not be purchased from anyone who does not produce a valid ID
- Anyone selling goods must be over the age of 18 years
- Suspicious characters’ details are communicated on the group internal electronic bulletin board
