There were several versions (I, II, III, IV and V), so the exact model matters. Canon confirms, for example, that the III USM was introduced in 1995 and weighs 205g, while the V USM weighs 200g.

Is it good?

For a cheap used lens, yes. It's useful for portraits, everyday photography and general-purpose shooting, particularly on a full-frame Canon DSLR. It's an old design, though, so modern lenses will generally provide better sharpness, contrast and autofocus.
